In the small mountain town of Jasper National Park, on October 24th, 1975, I was introduced to the world. With two older brothers, and at a very young age, my family moved 45 minutes away to the gorgeous town of Hinton, Alberta, Canada. With miles of foothills that bump up next to the Rocky Mountains, this was the type of playground that I would come to love. Not long after moving to Hinton, my family was increased by two. Now with a family of five boys, my father soon introduced us to the outdoors through fishing and camping.
As I grew up my wants soon turned to items such as pellet guns and slingshots. My first kill ever was with a slingshot that my dad showed me how to carve out of a willow tree. It was a song bird, not what I should be shooting, but I was so proud I took it home to show mom, BIG mistake! My slingshot days were over. I still think my dad was proud of the shot but he just couldn’t tell me.
After a youth filled with outdoor adventures, it was no surprise that when I turned 16, all I was thinking about was girls and big game hunting, but we’ll save the girl stories for another day. When I arrived home from summer vacation my brother Jason surprised me with a compound bow and the idea of starting our first year of big game hunting.
After just a year or two of big game hunting, I decided to start filming our outdoor adventures and that is what eventually led me to help create The Hunting Chronicles TV show.
With over 20 years of outdoor filming under my belt I can still remember starting off with an old VHS camera. My equipment, along with my skills soon progressed into the fantastic quality HD video hunts that I bring to you today. Growing up in an outdoor setting my whole life helped me to bring a wealth of hunting experience and knowledge to The Hunting Chronicles.
With nearly six years of dedication to our show, and numerous years of guiding experience, my love for the outdoors is unquestioned.
